Environmental awareness for timber suppliers in WA
Posted on August 18, 2015WA Timber Products understands the impact the forestry industry has on the environment and our company takes its commitment to the environment extremely seriously.
When you buy timber from WA Timber Products, you are buying directly from the sawmill, thereby ensuring you get the best possible price for your timber. But price is no longer the only concern when dealing with the harvesting of timber. You can also be assured that you know precisely where your timber has come from. The timber harvested by WA Timber Products is harvested in a sustainable way from WA state-managed forests. Western Australia was the first state to stop logging in old-growth forests. There are now more than 1.4 million hectares of old-growth forests in the form of national parks, reserves, conservation parks and more. These old-growth forests are now protected for current and future generations to enjoy and explore, and for native wildlife and eco-systems to flourish.
Timber suppliers WA-wide are required to carry out any harvesting of timber under forest management plans. These planning processes are undertaken at three levels and they provide the framework for timber harvesting in a manner that is ecologically sustainable. In addition to the timber harvesters and suppliers themselves, the Forest Products Commission undertakes consultations with local communities and other groups who hold an interest in the areas to be harvested.
WA Timber Products is a family-run and owned business and the Hersey family is happy to discuss the harvesting process with you if you have any concerns or queries.
